How do I know if I need a Double Tank System? A Double Tank System offers double protection: Copper-Zinc for heavy metals, scale and chlorine, and Coconut Carbon for pesticides, herbicides and THMs.
Use a Double Tank Water Filter System for ultimate protection against organic and inorganic contaminants. Some municipal water systems have no problems with organic contaminants, and here the single tank City System (or the non-backwashing green model) is appropriate.
How much maintenance is required? None, except for backwashing, which is automatic when the system is properly set up at installation. Daily backwashing is recommended. *If you are a concerned about the backwashing, see our new non-backwashing green model.
How much water does backwashing use? The backwashing clock can cycle for up to an hour, but the actual amount of water used is 35 to 50 gallons per automatic backwash.
How often do I have to replace the media? Non-commercial systems used on chlorinated water supplies usually will not need the media replaced for at least five years.
Can I install it myself? If you are handy around the house, you should have no problems with installing the filter yourself. However, a licensed plumber should be able to do it in 1-2 hours.
