To treat water that is often polluted before delivering it to our homes, cities and other governmental agencies use chemicals like chlorine Also, they have set allowable standards for chemicals, such as pesticides and arsenic, that may and often do get into our water supplies. These chemicals may be within the maximum allowed limit, but may still have adverse affects on our health over the long term. In addition, many of these chemicals affect the taste, color and odor of our water. This is why many people filter their water with a water purifier.
Maybe you bypass drinking your city water by drinking bottled water. However, many studies have been done on bottled water that show that often bottled water has just as many contaminants as city tap water. It is also very expensive to use bottled water, much more expensive over the long run than buying a good water filter to use with your tap water.
Here at EcoViva, we searched high and low to find the best quality, longest lasting water filters we could find. We decided not to offer reverse osmosis or distilled water systems at this time, for several reasons. In our opinion, both of these systems remove too many of the minerals that your body needs at the same time as removing contaminants. They are also a much slower type of water filter, and often more expensive. Distilling also changes the nature of the water, which many think is not good for your health, even if you add minerals to your diet in other ways.
