Have You Been Trying To Lose Weight For A Long Time?  Maybe you have been getting the wrong weight loss tips!

If you’re like most overweight people, you have been trying to lose weight for a long, long time, but have not been successful.  Maybe the weight loss tips you have been listening to are not helpful.  Or perhaps you go on diets and do lose weight, only to gain it back again and then some – the “yo-yo” diet syndrome, that many experts say is more dangerous than simply being overweight.  You may be like many people, who become desperate, and use supplements or drugs that can be damaging to your health in other ways.  Well, we are here to tell you that losing weight and then maintaining that weight in a healthy way can be easier than you think!  And if you do it naturally, like we are suggesting, here with our natural weight loss tips, you will most likely end up far healthier at the same time, with more energy and vitality than you’ve had in a long time*.

Natural Weight Loss Tips - #1:
Don’t Eat Low Fat

Low Fat Diets Don’t Work!

Our natural weight loss tips - #1 tip is that Low Fat Diets Don’t Work!  Are you still caught up in the low-fat mantra of the past couple decades?  Do you think you have to cut back on fat in your diet if you are trying to lose weight?  These ideas are still so prevalent in our media and in the low-fat products you see everywhere – in the grocery stores and in restaurants – that it’s no wonder you may still believe this.  In fact, even many doctors still believe this.  But this is the advice many of us have been following for many decades, but fifty years ago, only a small percentage of the population had problems with their weight.  Now it’s an epidemic!  All this has happened while we cut back from 40% to around 32% fat as a percentage of our diet.  So remember this first of our weight loss tips:  Low Fat Diets Don’t Work!  So stop eating low fat.

Low Fat Diets Tend to Promote Weight Gain

Low fat diets not only don’t work, but they’re not natural, not healthy, and they tend to actually cause weight gain!  There is a famous research study, the Framingham Study, that has been ongoing since 1948, and it shows that the more cholesterol, the more saturated fat, and the more calories a person ate, the lower their serum cholesterol!  The results also show that the more fat they ate in general, the less they weighed!  So stop thinking you have to eat low fat in order to be of a healthy weight.  To follow a low fat diet is one of the weight loss tips you want to discard!

Natural Weight Loss Tips -  # 2:
Virgin Coconut Oil

Many Experts Recommend
2 – 4 Tablespoons Per Day

Many Report That Coconut Oil Helps Them Lose Weight More Easily

Natural Weight Loss Tips #2:  Perhaps you’ve heard about some of the incredible health and weight loss benefits of coconut oil in Woman’s Day or First magazine.  Many people have reported that consuming Coconut Oil or Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) helps them to lose weight*.  They often see increased energy levels and fewer cravings for carbohydrates and sweets*.  It’s easier for many people to eat less when consuming 2 - 3 Tablespoons of coconut oil per day, because the fats provide a feeling of satiety or fullness after eating that is not generally experienced when eating a low-fat meal.  Coconut oil can also:

  • Increase your energy*
  • Increase your metabolism*
  • Promote healthy thyroid function*

So adding coconut oil to your diet is one of the good weight loss tips!

You Burn Off Coconut Oil 3 Times Faster
Than Other Common Fats

According to a report published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, coconut oil is burned three times faster than other fats.  This is because coconut oil contains a very high level of Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFAs).  Those who eat meals containing MCFAs (such as the lauric acid in coconut oil increased their metabolic rate.  In fact, their rate was boosted by 12%.  Imagine if you burned 12% more calories just by adding some coconut oil to your diet.  Well, these authors concluded that eating these medium chain fatty acids could “over long periods of time produce weight loss even in the absence of reduced (caloric) intake”.  This means that just by eating coconut oil, you may be able to lose weight or at least slow down your rate of weight gain.  Wow, that does sound like one of the good natural weight loss tips!

Natural Weight Loss Tips - # 3:
Avoid Vegetable Oil

Vegetable Oil Can Cause Weight Gain

Farmers Used Vegetable Oil to Fatten Animals
It Worked to Fatten Them, But The Animals Got Sick!

Natural Weight Loss Tips - #3:  When farmers were looking for a cheap way to fatten their animals (they get paid more if the animals weighs more, as they usually get paid by the pound), they tried using vegetable oil like corn and soy.  Guess what, it worked!  So if you want to avoid weight gain, you need to avoid vegetable oil.

In addition, they found that the vegetable oil in their diets caused thyroid problems and depressed their immune system.  These are two other reasons to avoid vegetable oil in your diet!

Vegetable Oil Easily Form Dangerous Trans Fatty Acids

Because the farmers found out quickly that vegetable oil caused problems for their animals, the oil industry had to sell the oil to someone - so now it’s people instead of animals that consume these oils.  In addition, vegetable oil is know to easily form trans fatty acids when heated as in cooking.  But guess what, most restaurants use vegetable for cooking all sorts of dishes!  And the Institute of Medicine has declared that trans fatty acids are unsafe to consume at any level.   So follow this one of our natural weight loss tips and stop eating vegetable oil!

Natural Weight Loss Tips - # 4:
Rev up Your Metabolism

Nourish Your Thyroid and
Avoid Thyroid Blocking Foods and Fluoride

Weight Loss and Thyroid Health

Weight Loss Tips - #4 - Research leads us to the fact that the number one cause of weight problems may be underactive thyroid, especially among women.  Did you know that the thyroid gland controls body temperature and metabolism, and when the thyroid is not working well, body temperature can decrease and metabolism can slow down significantly.  This means that you will have a much harder time losing weight, even if you are very careful about what and how much you eat!

Low Levels of Iodine Can Cause Low Functioning Thyroids

It’s generally accepted that low levels of iodine can cause low functioning thyroids.  That’s why iodine is added to our salt.  However, refined table salt, with iodine added, may not be the best delivery system.  Some natural sources of iodine that seem to be well used by the body include sea salt, seaweed, eggs, butter fat, and most seafood, especially cold water deep sea fish.  Traditionally fermented fish sauce is also a rich source of iodine.

Iodine Blockers in Soy and More

Besides eating iodine-rich foods, it is important to reduce intake of goitrogens (iodine blockers) like peanuts and soy (including soybean oil, which is in most packaged foods including salad dressings, as well as in most restaurant foods).  All raw cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cabbage are also goitrogens.  Make sure and cook or culture them before eating in significant amounts.

Coconut Oil Boosts Metabolism and Nourishes Thyroid

Coconut oil, because of its metabolism-stimulating properties, seems to be an excellent thyroid system builder*.  If you have problems with your thyroid, it may be helpful to include coconut oil and coconut products like coconut milk and flakes in your diet*, if you like them.

Fluoride May Interfere With Thyroid Function

According to Cherie Calboun in The Coconut Diet, a growing body of evidence suggests that fluoride may interfere with proper functioning of the thyroid as well.  This means that if your water is fluoridated, it may be extremely helpful for you to buy a water filter that filters out fluoride.  If you’re not sure, check with your water supplier – about 50% of American’s tap water is fluoridated today.  You can and should buy a water filter that filters out fluoride if you have fluoridated water in your area.

Weight Loss Tips:  #5-7 Continued...

1 Contrary to popular opinion, Asians actually consume very little soy, less than 1-2% of their total calories, and what they do consume is often fermented for long periods of time, which neutralizes most of the toxins, as with miso, tempeh and soy sauce.
